In Depth – Afghan Square or Dishcloth

NOTE: I made this in a 12″ X 12″ afghan square, but you could very easily use cotton yarn and it would come out a great size for a dishcloth.  If you just like the stitch pattern, I’ve included instructions on how to adjust the size for your own personal use.

ch 44. (or, any multiple of 3 chains + 2 chains for foundation row)

Row 1 (wrong side):  sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch2, skip next 2 chs, sc in  next ch; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 2:  ch3, (counts as 1st dc, now and throughout), 2dc in next ch2 sp, (work FPDC around next sc, 2dc in next ch2 sp) across to last sc, dc in last sc, turn.

Row 3:  ch1, sc in 1st dc, *ch2, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc, repeat from * across, turn.

Row 4:  ch3, 2dc in next ch2 sp, *FPDC around FPDC one row below next sc, 2dc in next ch2 sp, repeat from * across to last sc, dc in last sc.

Repeat rows 3 and 4.

Sorry if the image quality is a little lousy on this one.
Happy Crocheting!
