Scrap Flower Crochet Pattern

This is a great way to use up some scrap yarn.  You can add a crochet flower to just about anything.

I used a bulky weight yarn, but feel free to use whatever you have.  Use the hook size recommended for that yarn.  With bulky weight yarn and an “N” hook the flower measures approx. 3 3/4″ across.

Round 1:  10 sc in 2nd chain from hook, slip stitch to 1st sc.

Round 2:  slip stitch in 1st sc, ch2, 2dc in same sc, ch2, slip stitch in same sc, skip next sc, * (slip stith, 2dc, slip stitch) in next sc, skip next sc, repeat from * around. (5 petals)

Fasten off. (I like to leave a long tail of yarn, especially if I’m attaching it to a hat. It make it much easier to attach)

Happy Crocheting!

  1. >Very sweet! If you can crochet a few every time you have some scrap, eventually, they could be sewn into a pretty baby blankie full of tiny little blossoms…Have a blessed day,Doris :-)

  2. >We will definitely try this! Our church does a "Trunker Treat" for the Harvest Party, and we're decorating our trunk as a flower garden this year. This looks like a great way to use up yarn, decorate the trunk and get the kids involved, too.

  3. >Love stash busters. Thanks!

  4. >I'm a knitter. I needed some flowers to attach to some baby hats I made. This pattern was very easy. I memorized it after the first two petals. I'm glad I haven't lost my crochet skills. Thanks.

  5. i had real issues trying to crochet this flower. i tried atleast 3 different times with the same awful whonkey flower. im incredibly discouraged. perhaps im just misreading the pattern.

    • I know others have made it without any problems. Can you tell me exactly which part you’re having a problem with? Maybe I can help clarify it better if I know what’s giving you problems.

  6. This flower flower looks lovely on my newly crocheted hat, very easy to make, thank you x

    • Glad to hear it, Sarah.
