Afghan Square Crochet Pattern

***This may be Jan Eaton’s ‘Tricolor Square’ pattern from 200 Crochet Blocks.  If you read below, I did state the pattern had major errors and I couldn’t read it. I wrote up my directions from a pic, and also adjusted it to the size I needed.  Please see her book for the original version of the square.***

Have you ever tried a pattern that was just totally wrong?  That’s what happened to me.

The Ravelry afghan square group I belong to had a request for purple and fuschia in jewel tones.  I thought they might look good in this square, so I gave it a try.

Part of the problem with the pattern I chose was the book I borrowed was in UK terms.  Not a huge deal because you can always convert the stitches, but the pattern was missing major elements. Things like instructions for special stitches, which space/stitch to attach your next stitch too, etc. I also needed to make the square about twice the size of the original in the book.  I decided to try to come up with something similar, using the pic as my guide.  Here’s my version.

2 colors yarn – for pattern purposes I’m calling them “Color A” & “Color B”
