Chain Stitch

You will want to hold the base of the slip knot to keep it from twisting or sliding.

It will be easier to wrap the yarn around your hook if you hold it slightly above with either your index or middle finger.

Yarn over (from back to front) and pull through loop on hook.

Pull yarn through the loop on the hook and up onto the working area of the hook.  You have now made one chain stitch.

Repeat this process for as many chain stitches as you need.  It will be easier if you move your fingers up the chains (and hold your work higher) as you create more, because your work will stay in place better.

NOTE: When counting chains, you do NOT count the loop on the hook as a chain.

Happy Crocheting!
