8-Petal Flower Afghan Square
A while back I was part of the Baker’s Dozen group on Ravelry. Every month we would make a square to send to the M.O.M. (Member Of the Month). October’s MOM said she wanted a square that had meaning to the giver, color didn’t matter. This is what I came up with.
- The 8 petals represent each person in my family. (me, hubby, and our 6 children)
- The rounds represent my pink picket fence. ha! – I love country living and am totally happy living in the middle of nowhere.
- Pink….well because I live in a pink world. 5 of my children are girls and they are my inspiration for just about all my creations!
Here’s the pattern.

Happy Crocheting!
Thank you so much for the pattern .Do you have a you tube tutorial on making this square?
BEAUTIFUL!!!! Ilove your work… so nice. Thank you for sharing…
Is there a way I can cut this to a small flower .. For a baby blanket! I love the pattern!
Have you tried using a baby weight yarn with a smaller hook (probably the one recommended for the yarn)? That would make the flower smaller. If that’s still too large for what you’re looking for, let me know and I can try to decrease it some more.
I guess I’m making the problem! I thought the big square was too big for a baby blanket. So cut it down to almost half but now that beautiful flower looks too big for the little square! I’ve never seen such a pretty ,eye-catching square!, would it be possible to mane six petals , I guess I should have tried that before I asked you, but week has been so hectic!! Know those days!!!!! Thanks for responding so quickly! <3
This is absolutely beautiful!
Thank you!
Hi, I love the square, thanks for publishing! If I just want the lovely square without the flower where in your instructions would I begin?
I don’t have it written up without the flower, but if you give me a couple days I’ll work it up for you and post it.
Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing.
Wouldthis be a good size to make into a Blanket? If so how many would you need? If not, how would I reduce the size to make into a blanket? Thank you and beautiful.
Hi Becky,
The square is 12 inches, so you could either put a bunch of them together, based on what size bed you want it to fit, or you could just continue increasing the last round to make a square blanket with just one center flower. Either way would work.
I don’t have a website but this pattern is beautiful.
