No More Google Friend Connect (GFC) for Blog Followers
Many of you may already know, but for those that don’t, as of March 1st GFC (Google Friend Connect) will no longer work for sites that are not through blogger. If you use GFC to follow blogs that are not blogger blogs (like mine), you will no longer be able to see them. So, here are some alternatives I’ve added.
- Linky Followers – Linky Tools has come up with a free “followers” button, just like the GFC. You may have to create an account, but you can transfer all your blogs over to it, whether they’re blogger or not. I’ve added a box to the right if you’d like to follow that way.
- Email Subscription – box added to the right sidebar. Your email address will not be kept by me, and you will receive blog posts only!…no spam.
- Feedburner Feed or other RSS feed.
If you know of another way, feel free to let me, and others, know. What a mess! lol

With Linky do you have to go through all of your blogs you follow and add them individually? I’m a bit confused. (Shocking, I know.) and will it work for all other blogs as well? Don’t want to have to go to several different ones to read my favorites! Why can’t they all just be friends? LOL
Lanie, I haven’t had a chance to transfer mine yet, so I don’t know the answer to that. You could probably send Brent and email. He’s pretty quick about getting back to people. Sorry if that’s not much help.

Thank you for pointing me to Linky Followers. I have a free WP blog and GFC doesn’t work on these blogs (no Java allowed). I included the LF widget now and that seems to work although I seem not to be able to make it “look pretty” (also thanks to Java???).
