Wattle Stitch Tutorial
This wattle stitch tutorial is an easy way for beginners to visualize this stitch. The wattle stitch adds texture to your project by mixing basic stitches together. You can use any multiple of 3 to make your project as large, or small, as you would like. If you’d like to give it a try, the steps are below. If you’d like to skip the tutorial and just try out the stitch on your own, here is my wattle stitch afghan square to try it on (which can also double as a dishcloth).
Here are the steps to creating it:
1) chain as many as desired (remember multiples of 3)
2) skip 1st 2 chs (counts as sc), * (sc, ch1, dc) in next ch, skip next 2 ch, repeat from * across, sc in last ch, turn.
3) ch1, sc in 1st sc, skip next dc, * (sc, ch1, dc) in ch1 sp, skip next sc & dc, repeat from * across, sc in last sc.
Repeat step 3.
The pics below show you exactly where you will be inserting the hook.
