Spider Stitch Afghan Square
My spider stitch tutorial is one of my most popular, so I thought I would actually create a pattern using that stitch. The square was made for the Baker’s Dozen Group on Ravelry and is 12″ square.
Finished Size: 12” square
Materials Used:
- 3 oz. – #4 worsted weight yarn (I used Bernat Waverly)
- Size “H” crochet hook
Pattern Notes: If you would like to change the size of your square, increase/decrease 2 stitches at a time.
Ch36,
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip next ch, (sc, ch1, sc) in next ch, repeat from * to last 2 ch, skip next ch, sc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: ch1, sc in 1st sc, skip first 2 sc, (sc, ch1, sc) in each ch1 space, sc in top of beginning ch2, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until project is square.
Fasten off.
Block to 12” square.
Happy Crocheting!
this is a beautiful stitch…also love the color!
Looks good to me. I may have to remember this one for future projects.
Lovely stitch, thanks for your explanation!
Thanks for the pattern.
what a neat stitch, will have to try it out
Hello! With this Spider stitch as this is called. Can a person use The Lion Brand yarns baby colors for this stitch? Thank you! Lisa!
Hi Lisa,
You can use any brand & weight yarn you would like. Just adjust the hook size. I would start with the hook recommended on the yarn and you can adjust it from there to get the look you want. Hope that helps.
Thanks so much Kristine!!!
