    I use a piece of yarn in a contrasting colour and it works awesome!!

    In a pinch, I used an endless hoop earring. Worked real well.

    I use hair bobbiepins. I find they work better than paperclips, as they are easier to slide in and out.

    I just use a small piece of yarn (different color than the one I’m using. Easy to pull out and put in first stitch of next row.

    Guess I”m not the only one who has never had to buy official stitch markers. I use all of the above to great success. Yay for innovation!

    I usually use a scrap of yarn in a different color. Once when traveling I had to use an electronic twist tie. It took a hair longer to get in and out, but did the job.

    I usually just use a piece of yarn or crochet cotton in a contrasting color (and a lighter weight than the yarn I’m using for the project). These are great tips, too, though!
