Kid’s Neck Cozy & Headband Free Crochet Pattern

I designed this pattern because I wanted to submit my own pattern to the Crochet Pattern a Day calendar.  I found a stitch I liked and decided to make a scarf with it. By making the scarf smaller and sewing the ends together I can wear it as a headband too.

Fits about age 4 – 10.

I used a N/13 (9.00 mm) size hook and Hobby Lobby “I Love This Yarn!” in Neon Orange. (orange and green are my favorite colors)

Gauge: 6 1/2 stitches = 2 inches

Here is how I made my pattern.

Ch 14.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (14 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc blo in each sc across, turn.

Row 3 – 38: Rep Row 2.

Finishing

Holding short ends together, insert hook through blo of row 38 & through beg ch, sl st through all 3 loops. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

NOTE: This pattern was designed by my 6 year old daughter (who is modeling her work). I did not design it, crochet it, or even tie in the ends. The work was solely her doing. If you have any issues with the scarf pattern please let me know. ~ Kristine
