10 Days of Thanksgiving – Service {Day 2}
10 Days of Thanksgiving – Service
November…. the month that reminds everyone that we need to be thankful for all that we have. Some of my designer friends & I have come up with a 10 days of Thanksgiving Crochet Event. Each day we will share what we’re grateful for, and then we will each offer a pattern for $1 relating to the day’s theme.
10 Days of Thanksgiving – Service
Today is day 2 of our 10 Days of Thanksgiving with our theme being service.
Whether you’re helping someone else, or they’re helping you, there are so many reasons and people to thank for their service.
“To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” ~Don Adams
For the theme today, we’ve each picked a pattern and a charity that you can donate to. This is a great time of year to focus on others and there are so many amazing and giving charities out there. We’ve just named a few of our favorites.
My charity pick is a bit personal. My teenage daughter went on a mission trip this summer and worked with the homeless. She came home feeling like she needed to do more, so she started A Heart for the Homeless. She’s making & collecting hats & scarves for the homeless to give out this Thanksgiving and Christmas. She’s also taught many of her youth group friends to crochet so they can help her. Between her and the donations we have received from some amazing crocheters she’s collected over 300 hats and scarves in less than 3 months!

Christine is the organizer behind the Cancer Challenge. Every year dozens of designers offer free patterns in exchange for a promise to donate at least one to someone going through chemo. The Wrap Me Tender Hooded Scarf would be perfect to keep both kids & adults going through chemo warm.

Kate’s “With All My Heart” photo prop is perfect to help support Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. Their mission statement is: “To introduce remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture.” These hearts would be a perfect addition to those photos that will be all some parents have of their new baby.

Little Lambs of Utah is an organization that provides kits to children entering the foster care system or hospitals. This froggy backpack would help bring joy to a child and put a smile on their face.

Last, but definitely not least, I would like to thank all those who serve and protect this country. You and your families know the true meaning of service and serving others. I’m offering an additional pattern today – my American Flag Afghan.

I’m thankful for the Michaels gift cards my brother gave me this year. I’m blessed to test patterns so I have a lot of patterns and yarn to give items to a local cancer center and to the church who is collecting items for the needy.
I love this. <3
