Review: I remember when my nephew was little he wanted to be a paleontologist. These patterns would have been perfect. (Now he’s a high school science teacher).

Megan did a great job portraying these dinosaurs as fun, yet realistic. And her kids helped pick out the color choices! (I love this fun fact!)

Tech Review: ***Because the focus of my blog is now more behind-the-scenes, pattern based I have decided to have my reviews come from that perspective. I love tech editing and want to start adding that perspective as well.***

The patterns are well written, but the format is slightly different to what I am used to. For instance, the pattern may say: “sc 3, sc 2 in next st” whereas read in another pattern it may be written “sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st”. Please note: This is not wrong, nor is it bad. I’m just pointing out the difference for those who haven’t varied too much away from the “normal” pattern writing.

There are stitches & technicques sections if you need guidance with specific stitches or finishing techniquest to help you with your project. There are also tons of graphics for help with placement of pieces (eyes, ears, tails, scales, etc), which I think is super helpful. Spring Hill has a resources section in the back which includes abbreviations as well as yarn info.

I don’t see any skill levels, but most animals use your basic sc, so if you’re familiar with increasing and decreasing you should be ok with these projects using the extra help sections that are included.

Triceratops

Plesiosaur

Ankylosaurus

Overall a great pattern book if you have a little one obsessed with dinosaurs! I’ve only shown you a few of my favorites. You can go to the Spring House Press website and see the rest of the projects. I would love for you to come back and tell me which project is your favorite.
