CGOA Knit & Crochet Show Review

Every summer my husband, the kids, and I always head to NH for vacation. So, when I saw that the CGOA Knit & Crochet Show would be in NH this summer I asked if we could work our vacation around the show. Thankfully I have an awesome husband who said yes. So, last week, two weeks ago we spent an amazing vacation at the lake and I was able to attend 2 days of the CGOA Knit & Crochet Show in Manchester, NH. (I would have loved to do more than 2 days, but I tried hard to remember this was our family vacation.)

I had never attended a show, so was a little nervous and apprehensive. I walked into the hotel and looked around for registration. As I turned, I saw Tammy Hildebrand walking through the door. She recognized me right away and gave me a big hug. That MADE my whole experience amazing! She walked me to registration and we chatted for a little while about life, and I even got a picture with her. I know she is a super busy lady, but it’s those little things that make a big difference.  Click here to visit her Hot Lava Crochet page on fb.

(couldn’t believe hubby let me out of the house without makeup on!)

I met the very talented, down-to-earth and super friendly, Doris Chan. I couldn’t believe she recognized my name as an entrant to the CGOA Design Competition from last year!

Doris, along with Tammy, have been 2 of those ladies who I have looked up to and admired for their work and dedication to the art of crochet. It was a huge honor for me! (The other would be Vashti Braha. She was there, but I didn’t have the chance to meet her.)

I took a business class by Linda Dean and a tunisian cables class by Kim Guzman. Both were great classes and I learned so much. I sat in on the fashion show and I took a walk through the marketplace. It’s a bad idea if you’re on a fiber diet, but surprisingly I behaved myself! During the show I met Shelby Allaho (link to her Ravelry shop). I love her designs because I would actually wear so many of them. At the show I went searching for these unique necklace kits that she designed with her husband. I had the every friendly Jenny King help me pick out the perfect wood/yarn combo to match my strawberry blonde hair. The necklace kit came in this nice gift bag.

I can’t wait to share pictures of the finished item with you, but until then here’s a sneak peek. She’s only got a limited number to purchase, so click here to pick up yours before they’re gone! (This is not an affiliate link. Just my own personal opinion.)

Overall, my time at the show was a huge success. I got to meet some of the people whom I have worked with in the industry and I also met some new people and now have new connections. If you ever have the chance to attend this show, as a hobby or as a professional, I highly recommend it. What an amazing experience!
