This asymmetrical shawlette is perfect for those cool spring days when you still need some warmth but don’t want to wear a coat. And it works up super fast.

BOARDWALK SHAWLETTE CAL

Finished Sizes: 40” wide (on flat edge) and 21.5” tall (on longest side)

Yarn: #4 worsted weight yarn

Sample used Caron X Pantone Bamboo
2 hanks Night Owl (180 yds total from both)
1 hank Pastel Parchment (180 yds)

  • 4 oz. ivory (#11-0603) – A
  • 1.4 oz. charcoal #(19-4205) – B
  • 1.4 oz. blue (15-4704) – C

Note: Because these hanks have pre-cut colors I used the colors I wanted from the Night Owl (which required 2 separate hanks of that colorway). If you’d like to purchase less yarn you can use the colors it came with and only purchase 1 Night Owl & 1 Parchment Paper.


Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5.00 mm) Laurel Hill ebony hook

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge:  16 repeats and 16 rows = 4”

With color B, chain 76.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd chain from hook, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across, turn. (38 sc, 37 ch-1 sp)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across to last ch-1 sp, sl st in last sc, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across, ch 1, sk next sc, sc in last sc, turn.

Row 4 (dec row): Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across to last ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next sc, sl st in last sc, turn. (37 sc)

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in 1st ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across, ch 1, sc in last sc, turn.

Rows 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across to last ch-1 sp, sl st in last sc, turn

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in next ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * across, ch 1, sc in last sc, turn. 

Rows 8 – 11: Rep Rows 4 – 7, change to color A at end of round 11.

Rows 12 – 27: Rep Rows 4 – 7, change to color B at end of round 27.

Rows 28 – 29: Rep Rows 4 – 5, change to color C at end of round 29.

Rows 30 – 31: Rep Rows 6 – 7, change to color B at end of round 31.

Rows 32 – 33: Rep Rows 4 – 5, change to color A at end of round 33.

Rows 34 – 49: Rep Rows 6 – 7 once, then repeat rows 4 – 7, ending on row 5, change to color C at end of round 49.

Rows 50 – 51: Rep Rows 6 – 7, change to color B at end of round 51.

Rows 52 – 53: Rep Rows 4 – 5, change to color C at end of round 53.

Rows 54 – 55: Rep Rows 6 – 7, change to color A at end of round 55.

Rows 80 – 141: Rep Rows 78 – 79 until 1 st left.
Fasten off.
