Crochet Hook: Size I/9 (5.5 mm)

Gauge:

5 v-sts = 4”
5 puff st/sc combos = 4”
8 rows= 4” in pattern

Special Stitches:

Puff stitch – yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up loop, [yo, insert hook in same st, yo, pull up a loop] 4 times (11 loops on hook), yo, draw through all 11 loops.
V-stitch – (dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated st or space.

Notes: Pattern can easily be adjusted for different circumference cups/mugs by adding or subtracting rows.

Ch 16,
Row 1: V-st in 5^th ch from hook (skipped 4 chs counts as dc and skipped ch 1), *sk next 2 ch, v-st in next ch, rep from * across to last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in last ch, turn. (4 v-st, 2 dc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, *sc in next dc, puff st in ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next dc, rep from * across, sc in last dc, turn. (4 puff sts, 5 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1 (does not count as st), dc in 1^st sc, *sk ch-1 sp, v-st in top of puff st, sk sc, rep from * across to last 2 sts, sk next sc, dc in last sc, turn. (4 v-sts, 2 dc)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first st, *sc in next dc, puff st in ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next dc, rep from * across, sc in last dc, turn. (4 puff sts, 5 sc)

Rows 5 – 16: Rep Rows 3 & 4, or until cozy measures approx. 9½” long. Fasten off, leaving 12” tail for sewing.
