Hanging Cocoon Free Crochet Pattern

Hanging cocoons have been popular in newborn photo shoots for quite some time.

Now you can create your own with this easy hanging cocoon crochet pattern. Add to your photo prop collection, or use it for your own special moment when you photograph your own memories.

HANGING COCOON


Yarn:  #6 super bulky weight – 8 oz./150 yds
Sample used: Lion Brand Hometown USA in White

Crochet Hook: Size P (11.5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Abbreviations
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet yo – yarn over

CROCHET PATTERN


Ch2
Round 1: ch2, 12dc in 2nd ch from hook, slip stitch to 1st dc. (12 dc)

Round 2: ch2, 2dc in each dc around, slip stitch to 1st dc. (24 dc)

Round 3: ch1, sc in same stitch, ch2, * sc in next dc, ch2, repeat from * around, slip stitch to 1st sc. (24 sc, 24 ch2 sps)

Round 4: ch1, *sc in next ch2 sp, ch2, repeat from * around, slip stitch to 1st sc.

Round 5: ch1, *(sc in next ch2 sp, ch2) 5 times, sc2tog, ch2, repeat from * around, slip stitch to 1st sc. (20 sc)

Round 6 – 8: ch1, *sc in next ch2 sp, ch2, repeat from * around, slip stitch to 1st sc.

Round 9: ch1, *(sc in next ch2 sp, ch2) 4 times, sc2tog, ch2, repeat from * around, slip stitch to 1st sc. (17 sc)

Round 10: ch1, (sc in next ch2 sp, ch1) 8 times, 2dc in each of remaining ch2 sps, ch1, slip stitch to 1st sc, turn. (8 sc, 18 dc)

Round 11: ch1, dc2tog, dc in each dc across to last 2 dc, dc2tog, turn.

Round 12 – 16: Repeat Row 11.

Round 17 – 31: ch1, dc in each dc across, turn.
