Slip Stitch Ribbing

Are you looking for an alternative ribbing to the back loop method? Try slip stitch ribbing.

By working the slip stitch your ribbing will be slightly tighter and hold it’s shape better.

Here it is in its simplest form.

Work desired number of chains,

Row 1: Slip stitch in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, insert hook in back loop of 1st st, yo, draw loop through both loops on hook, rep from * across, turn.

Rep Row 2.

TIP

If you find your slip stitches are extremely tight on the next row, here’s a simple tip to help loosen up those stitches.

Before you pull through both stitches…
pull your loop up to the height of your hook
then continue on and pull that loop through the second loop on your hook.
