Free Bonding Square Crochet Pattern

Many hospitals are using bonding square to help mom and her new baby to bond while apart. Now, with this bonding square crochet pattern, you can make pairs of them (1 for mom to wear, 1 for baby).

Check with your local NICU department to see if they are accepting bonding squares and what their specific regulations might be.

I’m excited to be taking part in the 1st Annual Preemie Crochet Challenge and am offering the Little Sprout Bonding Square pattern as part of the challenge!

What is a bonding square?

If you haven’t heard of a bonding square, they are used for babies in the NICU. Mom is given 2 squares – mom wears one against her body and then every 12 hours or so she swaps them out. The smell will help baby bond to mom when they can’t physically touch each other yet.
