READY FOR SOME FREE PATTERNS THAT WILL MAKE GREAT QUICK GIFTS?

INTRODUCING THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS EVENT!

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. My mother always made it about family and the joy of giving, and I have tried to pass that onto my kids as well.

This year, Helen from Sunflower Cottage Crochet and I have come up with the 12 Days of Christmas to give you free patterns and gifts that can be made quickly. Hopefully this will help get your last minute gift giving made.

And I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently…..

Christmas will be smaller this year for so many people because of the economy. So, let’s focus more on people and spending time with them. Whether it’s with your kids, your loved ones, or just your BFF – let’s make sure we connect with people this season!

Helen & I are here to help!

Our 12 Days of Christmas will focus on patterns that you can make for the people in your life this Christmas season. We’ll have a new free download every day to help you enjoy the 12 Days of Christmas.

The event will run every weekend in December. We will let you know whether the download is available through me or Helen. Then look for the graphic below which will have the link to get that pattern free for one day only.

Make sure you follow the directions to download the pattern.

BEGINNER BLANKET PATTERNS

Click each photo to go to that pattern.

SUNDAY SNUGGLES THROW

The Sunday Snuggles throw has an easy 2 row repeat. By using super bulky yarn it works up fast and is so warm!

SERENITY BLANKET

Making the Serenity Blanket (really the whole collection) gave me so much peace, which is why it was named the Serenity Collection.

SAND & SEA BLANKET

The Sand & Sea is one of my favorites. From the beautiful colors to the simple but textured stitch, you may just have a new favorite.

MARSHMALLOW SKY THROW

The Marshmallow Sky throw uses easy stitches, super bulky yarn, and a large hook. You’ll be done in a few hours!

Want more blankets and tutorials? Be sure to sign up for my newsletter here so you don’t miss anything!

KIA BABY BLANKET

The Kia baby blanket has an easy 1 row repeat. It comes in both preemie and baby sizes but can easily be adjusted to any size!

BEACHCOMBER BLANKET

As part of the Beach Getaway Collection, the Beachcomber Blanket has a great fun repeat that offers a bit of design without being difficult.

DREAM WEAVER BABY BLANKET

The Dream Weaver blanket has just a bit of texture and is a great “mindless” project. You can just work on it at your child’s sporting event or watching tv without any worry that you’ll lose your place in the pattern.

ANCORA BABY BLANKET

The Ancora baby blanket comes in both preemie and baby sizes and has an easy repeat.

SOFT & SQUISHY BABY BLANKET

The Soft & Squishy blanket was named by my kids because every time they touched it all they would say is, “It’s so soft & squishy!”

Soft & Squishy Baby Blanket - Free Crochet pattern by Ambassador Crochet

VINEYARD TUNISIAN WEIGHTED BLANKET

Even if you’ve never made anything Tunisian, this is a great beginner pattern! It’s a weighted blanket, so it’s heavy as you make it, but only uses one stitch throughout.

This super warm cardigan pattern is size inclusive

The River Rock Cardigan is as warm as a jacket for the coldest of winter days. Pair it with your favorite blue jeans or even a dress to keep you feeling cozy.

Just a bit of texture, combined with worsted weight yarn and you may have a new favorite sweater to keep you warm. The crochet pattern uses basic stitches but you will need to pay attention to stitch changes, which makes this great for an advanced beginner.

Looking for an easy Tunisian square to learn color changes with?

I love Tunisian colorwork. There is so much versitility in where and how you can change colors.

The Reflections Tunisian Square is made by changing colors after the forward pass, instead of the return pass like you might think to do. With an easy 1 row repeat, so you can just work on the color changes.

gray and light green square made of yarn with even stitch pattern

REFLECTIONS TUNISIAN SQUARE

Finished Size: 12″ square

Yarn: #4 worsted weight
Sample used:

  • Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in Granite (MC) – 90 yds
  • Caron One Pound in Soft Sage (CC) – 80 yds

Hook Size: Tunisian L/11 (8.0 mm) hook

Notions: Yarn Needle

Skill Level: Beginner – Uses basic Tunisian stitches with no shaping.

Gauge: 16 sts x 12 rows = 4″ in pattern

Notes:

  • Pattern can be adjusted by adding any number of stitches.
  • MC is worked on the forward pass and CC is worked on RetP (for every row).
  • The most challenging part of this pattern is the amount of ends to tie in. I recommend tying them in every few rows. It will prevent the left side from trying to come undone.
  • You can use a regular hook for the bind off row. Tip – If the bind off row is too loose/wide you can go down a hook size.

For Tunisian printable cheat sheetsSIGN UP HERE and I’ll send them to you.

Special Stitches:

  • Tss: Insert hook behind vertical bar, yo, pull up loop. (Visit tutorial HERE)
  • RetP: Yo, pull through 1 loop, *yo, pull through 2 loops; rep from * across until 2 stitches remain on hook, yo with new color and pull through last 2 loops.
  • Tss bo (Tunisian Simple Stitch Bind Off) – insert standard hook through next st as for tss, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

REFLECTIONS TUNISIAN SQUARE

With this easy crochet pattern you can create this beautiful star candle trivet quickly!

I live in New England not far from Yankee Candle. I love the smells that they can portray so truly from wax! Like seriously….. And what better way to display that candle than to make a star candle trivet to display it on.

I took the Ara Blanket Square and made some modifications to make it a beautiful, stand alone star trivet. It will be a beautiful addition to your favorite candle. Make one or make it in more than one color. A candle and trivet combo would also makes a great gift.

It’s hard to believe this is my 7th year taking part in the Crochet Cancer Challenge. This year I chose skin cancer because it currently hits closest to home for me.

If you haven’t heard of the Crochet Cancer Challenge here is a quick rundown. You receive a free pattern (the offer is for a limited time). In exchange for that pattern, you pledge to make at least 1 of that hat and donate it to cancer patients or a treatment center. The challenge runs all through October, which is cancer awareness month.

WHY I CHOSE SKIN CANCER

My youngest daughter had to have a sample removed and biopsied (thankfully all came back clear). I also have a very good friend who had a few skin samples tested (& needs more testing done because one came back positive). So, it felt fitting to create the Stepping Stones Chemo Hat this year.

The color for the skin cancer ribbon is black (which is very hard to photograph), so I also made a gray version so you could see the detail better.

Honestly, cancer has taken it’s tole on my family. The past 4 years have been the hardest years of my adult life. What you don’t see is the mental tole that cancer takes on people, not just the physical (that comment is not to discount the physical). This is a journey I would never wish on even my worst enemy.

I wrote the following for the Hope Lives Chemo Hat that I made for the challenge in 2018, but I wanted to share again. We need to remember there are so many people out there struggling to keep their hope alive. Hopefully these hats will help just a bit.

HOPE LIVES

Hope lives in those who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Hope lives in their loved ones.

Hope lives in every doctor fighting to find a cure.

Hope lives in every nurse who cares for their patients.

Hope lives in the hearts of every person who knows or loves someone fighting for a cure.

So, this year, I pray my hat can be a reminder to keep your hope alive and never give up.
