Textured Star Baby Blanket Crochet Pattern

The textured star baby blanket uses basic stitches combined with post stitches for a bit of texture. Use the color changes provided, or make your own, for a special, unique blanket for your new baby.

Textured Star Baby Blanket

  • Mint (A) – 5 oz/362 yds
  • Lemon (B) – 5 oz/362 yds
  • Dreamy Blue (C) – 5 oz/362 yds (this color has been discontinued)

Please note: The yarn I originally used has since been discontinued, but you might either find it in your stash or you can substitute for any other #3 light worsted.

2nd Sample used: Pioneer Woman Acrylic yarn (bright blue & coral)

Please Note: Pioneer Woman Acrylic is a worsted weight yarn. You would need to go up a hook size and your finished blanket will be approx 34″ from point to point.

Hook: H/8 (5 mm)

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • FPdc – Front Post double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • yo – yarn over

Notes:

  • Entire blanket is worked without turning at the end of each round.
  • Color changes are noted, or you can change where you prefer.
  • Green & yellow blanket, as well as the pink/purple blanket followed the color changes in the pattern. The blue blanket was made by one of my testers and she changed colors at different points than what the pattern recommended (and she only used 2 colors).

Special Stitches:

  • Magic Ring – for tutorial, please see How to Make a Magic Ring
  • FPdc (Front Post double crochet) – yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of the next st, yo, pull up loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] twice. Click here for tutorial.
