Summer Breeze Throw Free Crochet Pattern

I’m pretty sure we all love the sunshine of summer days and cookouts. Now you can keep the chill of cool summer nights off with the Summer Breeze Throw. Great for sitting around a firepit or even wrapping it around yourself for a walk on the beach.

SUMMER BREEZE THROW


Finished Size: 52” x 60″ after blocking

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in Deep Teal
2 – 10 oz. skeins

Crochet Hook: Size I/9 (5.5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 2 pattern repeats & 10 rows = 5 inches (before blocking)

Pattern Notes:
– Throw was blocked to open up stitch pattern. If you don’t want to block the throw, consider adjusting the pattern size by adding 84 stitches to beg chain (ch 244). You will also want to increase to approx. 120 rows. (Consider extra yarn will be needed)
– Adjust pattern to any size by adding or subtracting 12 stitches at a time. (Ex: 12, 24, 36, 48….)
– Swatch is provided if you would like to practice the stitch on a smaller scale before beginning throw.

Special Stitches: Shell – 5 dc in indicated stitch

Row 1: (RS) 2 dc in 4th ch from hook (ch 3 counts as dc), sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 5, sk next 5 ch, sc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, *shell in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 5, sk next 5 ch, sc in next sc, sk next 2 ch, repeat from * across, 3 dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: (WS) Ch1, sc in 1st dc, *ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 5, sk next sc, sc in 3rd dc of shell, repeat from * across, sc in 3rd ch of beg ch 3, turn.

Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as dc plus ch 2), sc in next ch-5 sp, shell in next sc, sc in next ch-5 sp, *ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp, shell in next sc, sc in next ch-5 sp, repeat from * across to last sc, ch 2, dc in last sc, turn.
