MATERIALS

Finished Sizes: 2″ wide x 60″ long

Yarn:  #4 worsted weight
Sample used: Big Twist Value – Soft Grey – 3.5 oz/100g, 225 yds/206m

Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 1 cable repeat = ⅝” w x 2¾” h

Difficulty: Beginner – Uses a combination of post stitches to create a beginner-friendly cable.

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • FPdc – Front Post double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • yo – yarn over

Notes: 

  • Cable is worked over 2 sts.

Special Stitches: 

  • FPdc – yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of indicated st, yo, pull up loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] 2 times.  Video tutorial here

Ch 11.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (10 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, FPdc around next st, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around next st, sc in last st, turn. (4 FPdc, 6 sc)  

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (10 sc)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, FPdc around next post st, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around 2nd post st, FPdc around 1st post st, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around next post st, sc in last st, turn. (4 FPdc, 6 sc)  

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (10 sc)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, FPdc around next st, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around 1st post st, FPdc around 2nd post st, sc in next 2 sts, FPdc around next st, sc in last st, turn. (4 FPdc, 6 sc)  

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (10 sc)

Row 8-9: Repeat Rows 6 & 7 once. 

Rows 10-234: Repeat Rows 4 – 9 until strip has reached 60”.
