MATERIALS

Finished Sizes: 2″ wide x 60″ long

Yarn:  #4 worsted weight
Sample used: Big Twist Value – Soft Grey – 3.5 oz/100g, 225 yds/206m

Crochet Hook: Size H/8 (5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 1 cable repeat = ⅝” w x 2¼” h

Difficulty: Beginner – Uses a combination of post stitches to create small cables.

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • FPdc – Front Post double crochet
  • sc – single crochet
  • yo – yarn over

Notes: 

  • Cable is worked over 2 sts.

Special Stitches: 

  • FPdc – yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of indicated st, yo, pull up loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] 2 times.  Video tutorial here



DORY CROSSING MINI CABLE PATTERN

Ch 10.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (9 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, FPdc around next st, sc in next st, sk next st, FPdc around next sc, sc in next st, FPdc around same st as prev FPdc, sc in next st, FPdc around next st, sc last st, turn. (4 FPdc, 5 sc)  

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (9 sc)

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, FPdc around next post st, sc in next st, FPdc around sc between next 2 post sts, sc in next st, FPdc around same sc as prev FPdc, sc in next st, FPdc around next st, sc in last st, turn. (4 FPdc, 5 sc)  

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 6-234: Repeat Rows 4 & 5 until strip has reached 60”.
