LEARN HOW TO CROCHET CABLES WITH THE ADVENTURE IN CABLES BLANKET CAL
Are you ready for another adventure? Helen and I loved watching your blankets come to life during our first Adventure Blanket CAL and knew we couldn’t stop there.
Sooo….We’re excited to introduce the Adventure in Cables Blanket Crochet Along (CAL)—a brand-new crochet adventure with a twist!
This time, we’re diving into the beauty of textured stitches and stunning cables—designed to challenge you, inspire you, and keep your hook moving.
Just like the first blanket, this new journey is designed to give you a project that you’ll be proud to wrap up in, and make again and again. We can’t wait to see the amazing blankets you’ll create on this new adventure with us!
THE INSPIRATION . . . .
Helen, from Sunflower Cottage Crochet, and I loved our first adventure CAL and really wanted to collaborate and bring you another one.
We wanted to challenge you while still being able to help you succeed! We decided to help you learn cables in the hopes of taking the scary-ness out of it.
And, we decided to keep the choose your own adventure type layout. You’ll have daily questions that will give you a unique blanket and a fun story when you’re done.
ALL THE DETAILS
There will be 22 different strips combinations.
That’s over 5,852,925 unique blanket options!! (or something crazy like that according to Google!)
The CAL officially kicks off here and then the second half will be on Helen’s blog and she held the first half of the CAL over there.
We are releasing two strips each Monday and two strips each Thursday (4 per week). It is a choose your own adventure format so everyone’s choices will be different . . . . which means everyone’s blankets will be different!
Or, if you don’t want to wait for the strips, you can get them all together in the ebook.
Or you could work through the adventure and then get the ebook for all the other choices you didn’t pick.
Any way you choose, we’d love to have you join us.
Who’s ready to join the adventure?!?
And don’t worry if you’ve never made a cable or have hesitated trying – we have videos to help you through each section.
THE YARN & HOOK
Hook: We recommend an H/8 (5 mm), but please use whatever hook size you need to match the gauge. Our best advice is to keep the same hook size throughout and make sure that your width gauge is the same for every strip. It will work out perfectly!
Yarn: You can choose any #4 worsted weight yarn you would like. You will need approx. 180-780 yards per strip. You can make it a stash busting project or buy your favorite yarn. Either way, you will have something beautiful when you are finished.
Please Note: Because of the way that this CAL is set up we cannot give you exact yardage amounts. It depends entirely upon your adventure choices. Each strip has a yardage amount as well as total amounts for mine as well as Helen’s.
For my blanket (the solid, neutral one) I used Big Twist Value in Grey.
Helen used Rowan Pure Wool Superwash Worsted yarn in 3 colours (Golden, Ivory and Windsor).
HOW TO JOIN THE ADVENTURE BLANKET CAL:
There are 2 ways of joining in this event.
- Come back to this round up post every Monday and Thursday to answer the question. This will take you to your new strip. The patterns for each of blanket section will be free on the blog post for you to work up.

HOW IT’S GOING TO WORK:
- Each week there will be a total of four strips released as free patterns on our blogs – two on Monday, and two on Thursday.
- You will make ONE of the strips on Monday and ONE on Thursday! (When you’re done your blanket you can start over and get a completely different finished blanket!)
- There will be one center 8″ strip and two 2″ strips in your blanket. All the other strips will all be 4″.
- The strip you make will depend upon your answer to our adventure question. By doing it this way everyone’s blankets should be unique and different!

Happy Crocheting!
How do we get the strip in the middle of the blanket? It is a larger strip but you don’t say when we get it. If we start putting our blankets together as we go we need the large middle one but you have not mentioned when that one is released.
They are released in order from one side to the other, so the center strip is strip 6. It will be released shortly.
Both blankets are stunning. Can’t wait to get started! Thank you both for this opportunity!
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to see yours!
