READY FOR A UNIQUE CROCHET ADVENTURE? JOIN THE ADVENTURE BLANKET CAL
Do you love adventure?! Or are you more of a stay-at-home-and-crochet kind of lifestyle? Either way, I’ve got a fun adventure for you, right from your couch!
It’s the free Adventure Blanket Crochet Along (CAL) – it’s a crochet adventure that you’re going to love!
Helen and I were looking for something different, something unique and imaginative. We wanted something that you will love making again and again.
So, we came up with the Adventure Blanket CAL . . . .
THE INSPIRATION . . . .
Helen, from Sunflower Cottage Crochet, and I had been talking about doing a collaboration for at least a year! We knew we wanted something with cozy stitch combinations that had both easy and more skilled stitches.
Then one day I said, “Helen, remember those ‘Choose your own Adventure’ books? We could kind of take that concept and make it into a crochet-a-long?!! And as they say . . . . the rest is history. (after lots and LOTS of details were worked out!)
And now it’s here!!!
ALL THE DETAILS
There will be 20 different strips combinations (plus 5 bonus strips if you buy the bundle).
That’s over 5 million unique blanket options!! (or something crazy like that according to Google!)
The CAL officially kicked off on Helen’s blog and she held the first half of the CAL over there.
We are releasing two strips each Tuesday and two strips each Friday (4 per week). It is a choose your own adventure format so everyone’s choices will be different . . . . which means everyone’s blankets will be different!
Or, if you don’t want to wait for the strips, you can get them all together in the ebook.
Or you could work through the adventure and then get the ebook for all the other choices you didn’t pick.
Any way you choose, we’d love to have you join us.
Who’s ready to join the adventure?!?
And don’t worry if you are a beginner or not sure if you’ll be able to make each strip – we have videos to help you through each section.
THE YARN & HOOK
First, let’s talk about hook size.
Hook: I used I/9 (5.5 mm), while Helen used an H/8 (5 mm). We created this design in such a way that it doesn’t matter which hook size you choose to use. Our best advice is to keep the same hook size throughout and make sure that your width gauge is the same for every strip. It will work out perfectly!
Yarn: You can choose any #4 worsted weight yarn you would like. You will need approx. 300-450 yards per strip. You can make it a stash busting project or buy your favorite yarn. Either way, you will have something beautiful when you are finished.
Please Note: Because of the way that this CAL is set up we cannot give you exact yardage amounts. It depends entirely upon your hook and stitch choices.
For my blanket (the more neutral tones) I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Oatmeal, Antler, Oxford Grey, Dark Rose Heather and Natural Heather for the dividers and border.
Helen used Sirdar Country Classic Worsted weight in Golden, Moss, Clotted Cream and Oyster for the main sections, and White for the border and division sections.
HOW THE FREE BLANKET CAL WORKS:
If video isn’t playing you can CLICK HERE to watch Intro to the Adventure Blanket CAL.
Each week there will be a total of four strips released as free patterns on our blogs – 2 on Tuesday, and 2 on Friday.
You will make ONE of the strips on Tuesday and ONE on Friday! (When you’re done you can start over and get a completely different finished blanket!)
Each strip will be approximately 4-6″ tall and will have a stitch count of 200. Each strip will start on the right side and finish on the wrong side of the blanket.
The strip you make will depend upon your answer to our adventure question. By doing it this way everyone’s blankets should be unique and different.

Happy Crocheting!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this CAL! Thank you to you and Helen. This was so much fun and perfectly done to avoid the monotony of a plain blanket. I am buying the ebook, so I will have all the patterns easily accessible for future blankets. Looking forward to your next CAL!
Thank you SO much! We are so glad you enjoyed it. We’re already in the planning stages of the next one so be on the lookout!
