Modern Baby Crochet Review
I recently had the opportunity to review a new crochet book called Modern Baby Crochet.
Author Stacey Trock, aka FreshStitches, is well known for her amigurumi patterns, but in her newest release by Martingale she goes beyond just amigurumi. There is something for every skill level from easy to experienced. Below are some of my favorites.*
Asymmetrical Basket-Weave Blanket
The patterns are sectioned off by colors used. So whether you’re looking for something Bright & Bold, Pretty in Pastel, or Naturally Neutral you’ll be able to easily find a pattern that will appeal to you.
Not only does this book have some adorable patterns, but it has a wealth of information on hooks and yarn, tips for new crocheter’s, tips for specific projects in the book, and help for beginners; including stitches and technique help sections.
Please visit the Martingale website for more photos of projects. (Click here to view all photos from Modern Baby Crochet)

I am in love with the asymmetrical basket weave blanket…this is the best baby book I have seen for a long time!! I’m already imagining that blanket in different shades of colours :)
They are all fabulous but my favorite is Mondrian-Inspired Afghan.

Hi Alyssa, I’ll choose a random winner next week.
I love the asymmetrical basket weave blanket, what fabulous use of textured stitches. Very modern, and for someone who has been traditional for quite some time I am quite enthused about your lovely designs. Cheers, Caroline Britton
Gonna have to go with the wiggle pillow although a very tough decision! Thanks for the giveaway!

I really like the little sheep but my fav afghan is the argyle one.
Choose ONE?! Impossible! OMGoodness! Hmmm…. I’ll have to go with Zabby the Giggle Monster – Buzzy Bee Mobile – Oakley the Owl. Yes, that’s the one. They are all amazing! Thank you for sharing.
I love the grey textured blanket the best but also like a lot of the other patterns.
A teacher at work is expecting a baby girl in April and her theme is Classic Pooh. That Buzzy Bee Mobile would look PERFECT in her nursery!

I love the colorful wiggly pillow but I really like the birdies too! I’m due in early September and I’d love to make many of the patterns in the book.
I’ve wanted to try an argyle pattern in crochet for DECADES. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.
I worked with honey bees all through college so my favorite pattern has to be the bee and hive mobile.
The designs are so fresh. I like the argyle pillow and blanket. It looks like a fun challenge.

It’s hard to choose just one, but I really like the uniqueness of the argyle pattern on photo 6/21. :)
Just one? My first choice would be the “squiggly pillow” and second fav is the feminine rug. and my third…ok, I know I’m pushing it. There isn’t one that I don’t like!
The ruffled pillow is super cute. Oh, and love the bee mobile too.
