Crochet the Stony Creek Shawl for Timeless Style

The Stony Creek Shawl crochet pattern reminds me of stones that you can walk on along the bank of a creek. You will be able to wrap it around your shoulders to keep the chill off, or bunch it up around your neck for extra cold days.

STONY CREEK SHAWL CROCHET PATTERN

Finished Sizes: 18″ wide x 74″ long, blocked

Yarn: #3 light worsted
Sample used: Paintbox Yarns Simply DK in Vintage Heather – 400 g/1208 yds

Hook Size: Size G/6 (4 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 5.5 repeats x 9 rows = 4 inches, blocked

Difficulty: Adv Beginner – Uses adv beginner stitches with no shaping.

Stitches used:

ch – chain
puff stitch
sc – single crochet
tr – treble crochet
yo – yarn over

Notes:

Wrap is worked widthwise.
To adjust size, work beginning chain in multiples of 3+5.
Easily add more rows to make the shawl longer.
Shawl will need to be blocked to open up stitches and make it full size.

Special Stitches:

Beg tr (beginning treble) – Pull up loop on hook approx ½” and ch 1, tr in first stitch.
X-st (x-stitch) – Skip next 2 sts, tr in next st, ch 1, tr in first skipped st.
Puff st – Yo, insert hook in next ch-1 sp, yo, pull up loop, [yo, insert hook in same ch-sp, yo, pull up loop] 2 times, yo, pull through all 7 loops on hook.
