SAGEBRUSH PLACEMAT & COASTER SET
MATERIALS LIST:
Finished Sizes:
Coaster – 4¼” x 4¼”
Placemat – 11″ wide x 14½” long
Yarn: #4 worsted weight cotton
Sample used: Loops & Threads Capri Eco Cotton in Sage – 3 oz/150 yds
Hook: Size H/8 (5 mm)
Notions: Yarn Needle
Difficulty: Beginner – You will just need to be familiar with basic stitches (chains, sc, and dc).
Notes:
- 3 oz will make one place setting.
- For slightly larger placemats, or to open up stitches, block coaster to 4½” x 4½” and block placemat to 12” x 17”
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
tch – turning chain
yo – yarn over

Coaster
Ch 18.
Row 1: (WS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 3, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across, turn. (5 ch-sps)
Row 2: (RS) Ch 3, dc in 1st sc (same as ch 3), *sc in next ch-3 sp**, 3 dc in next sc, rep from * across ending last rep at **, 2 dc in last sc, turn. (13 dc, 4 sc)
Row 3: (WS) Ch 1, sc in 1st dc, *ch 3, skip next 3 sts, sc in next dc (center dc of 3 dc grp), rep from * across, working last sc in top of tch, turn. (5 sc, 4 ch-sps)
Rows 4 – 11: Repeat Rows 2 – 3.
Fasten off.
Placemat
Ch 46.
Row 1: (WS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 3, skip next 3 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * across, turn. (5 ch-sps)
Row 2: (RS) Ch 3, dc in 1st sc (same as ch 3), *sc in next ch-3 sp**, 3 dc in next sc, rep from * across ending last rep at **, 2 dc in last sc, turn. (13 dc, 4 sc)
