Learn How to Crochet Raised Diamonds Stitch Pattern

I don’t know if diamonds are really a girls best friend, but the raised diamonds crochet stitch might be the next best thing! It will add an interestinng design using texture to your blanket or other project.

MATERIALS

Finished Sizes: 5″ tall x 200 sts wide

Yarn: #4 worsted weight
Sample used: Lion Brand Wool-Ease – Oxford Grey – 5.5oz/156g, 363yds/330m

Crochet Hook: Size I/9 (5.5 mm)

Notions: Yarn Needle

Gauge: 1 diamond= 3″ wide x 3.5” high

Difficulty: Adv Beginner – Uses basic stitch combination with post stitches to create texture and design elements.

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
FPdc – Front Postdouble crochet
sc – single crochet
yo – yarn over

Notes:

To adjust size, work beg chain in multiples of 10+2.
The post stitches are worked around the stitch 2 rows below.
From row 5 on, you will be working the FPdc into either a sc or a post stitch.

Special Stitches:

FPdc – yo, insert hook from front to back to front around post of indicated st, yo, pull up loop, [yo, pull through 2 loops] 2 times.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first 9 sts, FPdc in sc 2 rows below, *sc in next 9 sts, FPdc in sc 2 rows below, rep from * across, sc in each of last 10 sts, turn. (19 FPdc, 181 sc)
